The Cost Analysis / Space Utilization Office coordinates the annual
space survey. The survey is conducted annually to ensure the accuracy of data
maintained on rooms in buildings owned and leased by the university.
The space data includes room square footage corresponding to drawings maintained by Facilities Management and other data related
to the function and type of room. The space data is updated through an on-line space system and is downloaded nightly to a FOCUS database.
The space information is used for various purposes, the most important
being the recovery of O & M expenses and depreciation costs on buildings
and equipment from the federal government.
